Start and Stop a MongoDB Node
A clear, step-by-step guide that details the process of managing the operational state of a MongoDB node within your replica set. This overview focuses on executing the essential commands to start, stop, or restart a node, ensuring it responds correctly to your operational needs—all without delving into advanced configurations or long-term maintenance tasks.
This is your primary node—the powerhouse at the center of your cluster. Click on the "plus" icon to expand the view and reveal all the standby nodes waiting in the wings.

Here are the standby nodes, ready to support the primary when needed. Double-click on any node to open its dashboard, giving you a closer look at its status and details. When a node is up, you'll see convenient options to stop or restart it.

An active node is marked by a green star, clearly indicating that it's up and running.

Let's proceed to stop the node. Simply press the "Stop" button to begin the shutdown process.

A status message will appear, confirming that the process to stop the node has been initiated.

Shortly thereafter, you'll see a confirmation that the node has been successfully stopped.

Now, the node is down, as indicated by a red star and you'll only have the option to start it.

From here, you can start the node again when you're ready to bring it back online.
